Camping activities for kids
The list of potential camping activities is only limited by your imagination. Here’s a sampling:
- Frisbee
- Kite-flying
- Photography (try a kid-friendly Polaroid for instant gratification!)
- Digging with a shovel/pail (designate a limited area without plants to reduce disturbance)
- Rock collecting
- Bubble blowing
- Squirt guns
- Slingshots
- Outdoor toys, such as Melissa and Doug’s wide selection
- Exploring with a magnifying glass and binoculars
- Making leaf rubbings
- Scavenger hunts
- Junior Ranger programs in National Parks

- Alphabet scavenger hunt (kids need to spot something with starting with each letter of the alphabet in order)
